Team Michelle donates to Lawson lab for new pilot project to research the function of Natural Killer cells (NK) in metastatic dormancy. Team Michelle is a non-profit organization launched by Michelle Crago Buessing, friends and family, following her diagnosis with breast cancer several years ago. Team Michelle hosts many yearly events to raise money and awareness for breast cancer, and has been donating to breast cancer causes for >9 years.

Congrats to our undergraduate researchers, Anushka Silva, Leona Torosian, Christian Calderon, Anush Markaryan, Grace Hernandez, Davit Orujyan, Armani Oganyan, and Madona Masoud, on presenting their research posters at the 2018 Undergraduate research symposium.

Ryan Davis, Kerrigan Blake, and Dustin Maurer present their 2017 Opportunity Award project results at the 2018 CCBS (Center for Complex Biological Systems) retreat.

Lawson presents lab research program overview at ACS open house, where ACS volunteers and staff mingle, make blankets to donate to local cancer patients, and discuss cancer topics.

Together with Nick Navin’s lab at MD Anderson and Kai Kessenbrock’s lab at UCI, we have secured pilot funds from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to build a benchmark cell atlas of the human breast, using a series of single cell transcriptomic, epigenomic, and spatial genomic technologies.

Mechanoresponsive cell system (MRCS) can selectively identify and treat cancer metastases by targeting the specific biophysical cues in the tumor niche.

Congrats to Ryan on a new chapter, and Bon voyage to our spectacular lab manager Anh! We will miss you and best of luck in medical school.
