Our mission
The Lawson lab is interested in understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the metastatic spread of cancer cells to peripheral tissues. We take a systems-level approach, using cutting edge single-cell technologies to understand how the interplay between intracellular signals within the cancer cells, and extracellular stimuli from cells in the microenvironment influence the metastatic potential of individual cancer cells. We believe that new insights into the metastatic process will lead to new drugs to prevent and treat metastatic disease.

Lab hosts Community education symposium
The Symposium was held in collaboration with Susan G. Komen, Orange County, and titled ‘Metastasis Research, Treatment, and Prevention Advances: From Bench to Bedside’ The goal was to present a summary of existing treatment options and ongoing research efforts in metastasis, for local patients, families, and patient advocates.
Devon speaks at MRS 2016
The Metastasis Research Society held its biennial meeting this September in Chengdu, China.
Devon is awarded ACS seed grant
The American Cancer Society (ACS) provides several seed grants per year to junior investigators at UCI through an Institutional Research Grant. Dr. Lawson’s award will fund a new project aimed at investigating and targeting breast cancer brain metastasis.
